Beauty Matters

Lord make me beautiful from the inside, Lord make me beautiful…

In the world, majority of people are looking and paying for ways to make themselves beautiful from the outside and their is nothing wrong with trying to look nice.  The problem is when you put ALL your focus and effort on your exterior and forget about the inside.  When the makeup comes off, the hairstyle goes down, the clothing gets put away, what is left?  When you get older and start seeing wrinkles and gray hair, what do you have left?

The point is to take care of yourself but not only from the outside, because the inside matters most!  For example what is the point of receiving a beautiful gift covered with an impressive shiny red wrapper and when you unbox it you find it filled with dirty, old, useless rocks?  Wouldn’t it be better to receive a regular cardboard box filled with beautiful, shiny, colorful jewels?

I’d like to share with you some verses about the beauty worth seeking.  Its beauty that never fades and that money can’t buy.  Its the kind of beauty that goes with you when you die and that leaves a legacy behind with those that knew you.

Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes.  Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight.       -1 Peter 3:3-4

I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. -Psalm 139:4

But the LORD said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him.  The LORD does not look at the things people look at.  People look at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart. -1 Samuel 16:7

Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised. -Proverbs 31:30
